Rules for Safe Transportation
It is important that you take time to go over the bus rules with your child even if he/she is not a regular bus student so that in the event your child rides the bus to school or for a field trip, he/she will understand the bus rules.  Students using District transportation must understand that they are under the jurisdiction of the school from the time they board the bus until they are deposited at sxhool or are deposited at the stop nearest their home.  the bus driver and bus contractor are responsible for the safety, welfare, conduct and control of the students they are transporting.  Therefore, the following regulations will be strictly enforced.
*No smoking on any bus, including charter trips.
*No profane language, obscene gestures, excessive noise, fighting, wrestling, or acts of physical aggression will be tolerater. 
*Keep head, hands, feet, etc. inside the bus.
*Once a student has boarded the bus he/she may not get off except at his/her destination.  (Exception will be made only with a note from the principal.)
*Students must be seated and are not permitted to change seats when the bus is in motion or to annoy other riders on the bus.
*Students must stay in their seats until their designated stop.  Emergency doors are for emergencies only.
*Students must take a seat promptly when getting on the bus.
*The law allows and you are expected to sit three passengers per seat.
*No eating or drinking on the bus.
*No marking or defacing the bus.
*Students will be held responsible for any and all damage to the bus perpetrated by them.
*No throwing things in the bus, at the bus or out the window.
*Always cross the street in front of the bus.
*Students must arrive at the bus stop before the bus is due.  The driver will not wait.
*The driver is authorized to assign seat.
*Anything that would create a safety hazard for the passengers or vehicle will not be permitted.
*the bus drivers are in complete charge of the bus and their decisions and requests must be followed.
*Only authorized riders will be permitted on the buses.

violation of the above regulations may be referred to the Building Principal for further disciplinary action and may result in the following consequences:

FIRST REFERRAL - Referral reviewed with the student and parent/guardian contacted.

SECOND REFERRAL - Warning issued (this warning will explain that an additional incident will result in a bus suspension) and parent/guardian contacted.

THIRD REFERRAL - Bus suspension issued and parent/guardian contacted.

Depending on the nature and severity of the violation, the administration reserves the right to assign the consequences they feel are deemed appropriate based on the circumstances.

Buses will, from time to time, be equipped with video surveillance cameras.  Please refer to School Board Policies.
